Tet at Little Saigon in Santa Ana

January 26th is the Chinese New Year and it's the year of the Ox (Buffalo). In Vietnam we call it Tet (Vietnamese New Year). Tet is like a birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's celebration rolled into one holiday. It lasts for three days.

This year we celebrated it on January 31st in Westminster and Garden Grove where there was a Tet Parade and Tet Festival. This area is also known as Little Saigon. Dave accompanied his Vietnamese family and inlaws on this trip. It was very easy to find Dave in the Vietnamese crowd for obvious reasons.

Despite the horrible economy, Santa was still good to Kevin and Marissa this year. Kevin got his Playstation 2 and Marissa got her camcorder.

It was a very snowy winter and we had some difficulty getting in and out of our driveway. The kids loved it, it was the most snow that we've seen here in a while. The kids got to ski and sled. Marissa has become a very cautious and skilled skier, while Kevin has become a fearless speed monster. We found a real steep hill to sled on which had a jump that Kevin loved. He said "It was totally awesome and wicked!"
